We provide the following services and our prices are as follows:

Our fees and disbursements are dependent on the complexities of each individual matter and fees may vary for each matter. The fees quoted will vary for the basic work that is required on each of the above type of matter.

 

Wills

A Standard Will is suitable for most people with relatively straightforward estates.

 

Standard Wills - From £150 (single) or £280 (couple)

 

What is included in this service:

 

• An initial consultation of about an hour at one of our offices with one of our will writing specialists. A home visit may be possible depending on your circumstances and location

• A second meeting at one of our offices to sign the will

• We will provide both witnesses (if signed at our offices) and ensure that the will is correctly signed

• Appointment of executors

• Appointment of guardians for minor children

• Up to 10 specific monetary gifts or gifts of personal possessions to individuals or charities

• Nominating who the remainder of your estate will be left to (up to 10 different parties)

• Specifying who would inherit if any beneficiaries die before you

• Specifying what age children will inherit

• Will written in plain succinct English

• A comprehensive commentary explaining the terms of the will

• A basic overview of the current inheritance tax position (not specific to your estate)

• Lifetime storage

• Regular review reminders

When might a Standard Will not be suitable:

• If you require inheritance tax planning advice

• If you require advice relating to life policies, pensions or mortgages

• Where you want to set up a trust in your will

• If you are wanting to disinherit people from your estate

• Where you have foreign assets

• If you have business interests

• If we require an assessment of your capacity to make the will

 

Our trust wills and complex wills are suited to clients who require more in-depth advice or whose wills require more bespoke drafting.

 

Trust wills & complex wills – From £300 (single) or £450 (couple)

 

What is included in this service:

 

• All of the services included in our standard wills PLUS:

• An initial consultation of up to an hour and a half at one of our offices with our will writing specialists. 

A home visit may be possible depending on your circumstances and location

• Basic advice about your current inheritance tax position

• Advice about protecting your assets against future care costs

• Advice about protecting assets for vulnerable beneficiaries

• Inclusion in your will of a life interest trust, disabled persons trust or discretionary trust

• Advice about ensuring that children from previous relationships will inherit

• Advice about disinheriting beneficiaries and steps that may be taken to reduce the risk of disputes

What won’t be included:

• In depth inheritance tax planning advice

• Advice relating to life policies, pensions or mortgages

• Multiple or highly complex trusts

• Advice relating to foreign assets

• In depth advice relating to business interests

• Drafting letters of wishes

• Arranging an assessment of your capacity to make the will

 

Lasting Powers of Attorneys

 

There are two different types of LPA: Property and Financial Affairs & Health and Welfare

 

Our prices are fixed fees and based on the number of Lasting Powers of Attorney we are preparing:

 

Single LPA (an individual is making one type of LPA) £500

Two LPAs (where a couple are making one LPA each or an individual is making both types) £800

Four LPAs (a couple are making both types) £1500

 

This service includes:

 

An initial consultation of up to an hour and a half at one of our offices with one of our LPA specialists. A home visit may be possible depending on your circumstances and location

Advice about the pros and cons of making an LPA

Advice about your choice of attorneys

A second meeting to sign the LPA

Advice about the different ways that attorneys can be appointed

Advice about attorney’s duties once appointed

A professional certificate provider (unless a capacity assessment is required)

Advice about preferences and instructions and drafting common clauses for inclusion in the LPA

Arranging for your attorneys to sign the LPA

Registration of the LPA with the Office of the Public Guardian

What isn’t included:

Obtaining capacity assessments

OPG Registration fees when payable (currently £82 per LPA subject to your financial position)

 

Residential Purchase/Transfer of Equity

 

We will act for you and for any lender (if applicable) when you purchase a residential property. We will require detailed information on what is involved in your purchase at the outset of the matter in order to provide you with a more accurate estimate of our charges.

 

Our minimum fee for any transaction is £300 and our charges for the purchase of a residential property with a purchase price of up to £125,000 begin at £750 which will include the submission of the Stamp Duty Land Tax Return and registration of the title in your name at HM Land Registry. If the purchase price is higher than £125,000 then our charges can be up to £1,800.

 

Our charges exclude the costs of disbursements which are the costs that will have to be paid to progress and complete your purchase. These can consist of, but are not limited to the following:

 

• Search Fees;

• Stamp Duty which will depend on your circumstances;

• Leasehold Notice Fees;

• Indemnity Insurance Premiums; and

• HM Land Registry Fees.

 

There may be other disbursements that will need to be incurred when and details of these may only transpire during the course of your matter which could take between 4 and 8 weeks to complete.

 

Residential Sale

 

Our services include acting for you and any lender(s) to redeem their mortgage or charge when you sell your residential property. We will obtain further details of what is involved in your sale at the outset of the matter in order to provide you with a more accurate estimate of our charges.

Our minimum fee for any transaction is £300 and our charges for a typical house sale for a selling price up to £125,000 begin at £750 which will include the redemption of one mortgage or charge secured against the property. If the property is subject to more than one charge and any other restriction not relating to a first mortgage then this will involve additional work and will be charged at an hourly rate of £180 with each telephone call and letter being charged at £18. If the selling price is higher than £125,000 then our charges can be up to £1,800.

Our charges exclude the costs of disbursements which are the costs that will have to be paid to progress and complete your sale. These can consist of, but are not limited to the following:

 

• Leasehold Management Pack;

• Indemnity Insurance Premiums; and

• HM Land Registry Fees to obtain Title Documents.

 

There may be other disbursements that will need to be incurred when and details of these may only transpire during the course of your matter which could take between 4 and 8 weeks to complete.

 

Application for a Grant of Probate & Letter of Administration

 

Every single estate will be different and if we take instructions from an Executor and Trustee in relation to collecting and distributing the estate then our charges will be up to 1% of the gross value of the estate and an hourly charge of £180 for the time spent on the matter with each telephone call and letter being charged at £18.

If a client only wants us to obtain a Letter of Administration or Grant of Probate on their behalf then our charges for this begin at £750 for a net estate with a value up to £325,000.00, however of we have to contact any third party for information, for example a bank or building society to obtain the balance information at the time of death then this additional work will be charged at our hourly rate as stated above.

Our charges exclude the costs of disbursements which are the costs that will have to be paid to progress and complete your matter. These can consist of, but are not limited to the following:

• Probate Fee currently £215 plus 1.50 pence for additional copies; and

• Bankruptcy Search Fee current at £2.00 per name.

 

Immigration Applications

 

Our services include completion and submission of your application to enter the United Kingdom or for leave to remain in the United Kingdom. Our charges for such applications begin at £750 excluding the Home Office fee and Immigration Health Surcharge which will depend on the type of application that is being made and the period that a visa is being applied for.

 

Debt Recovery

 

Our charges to issue the first letter which is known as the Pre-action Protocol letter to an individual or organisation that owes you up ​to £100,00.00 begin at £60-00.and depending on the response to that letter. Any additional work that we undertake will be charged between £200 to £240 per hour depending on the complexity of the matter. We will only be able to confirm our hourly rate once we have obtained details of the circumstances surrounding the debt.

 

Miscellaneous

 

Change of Name Deed - £100

Independent Legal Advice - £200 per person

General Power of Attorney - £150

Letters - £80 per letter

Travel Consent Letters - £120

Witnessing of documents - £10 per copy

VAT – we are not VAT registered at the present.

 

Supervision

 

All work undertaken at our firm will be supervised by a qualified solicitor at our firm.

 

The information provided in relation to our fees is effective from June 2021 and is reviewed in the April of every year with our first review to take place in April 2022.​
